Hi, I'm Sharon!

I was born in Hong Kong before my family immigrated to Victoria, BC, Canada when I was a year old. I began Art by Sharon Lam as a way to preserve my family's treasured memories when my Mom entered hospice care. In those final weeks together, I realized that our most cherished memories weren't from extravagant vacations but rather from the familiar warmth of our favorite local spots. Through my art, I strive to celebrate the beauty of these special places and the memories they hold.

Commission Requests

I usually focus on places I’ve personally experienced, allowing me to soak in the atmosphere and culture that make each location unique. As a self-taught artist, I rely heavily on inspiration, which makes it difficult to take on commissions or adhere to strict deadlines—so I currently do not accept them. That said, I’d love to hear your suggestions! If you have a place that holds special meaning, please click this button and fill out the form.

Sharon Should Draw This!

"I've always felt Sharon's art embodies the true spirit of Victoria. Through her colorful, playful style, she brings Greater Victoria's beloved places to life in a way that feels familiar yet beautifully reimagined. Her work doesn’t just depict Victoria, it celebrates it. If you love Greater Victoria, you'll love Sharon's art."

  • Jen (She/Her)

“I love how Sharon documents the city she calls home. Her appreciation for community absolutely shines in her artwork, bringing local landmarks (and lesser-known spots) to life – with a healthy dose of playfulness, colour, and joy!”

  • Teale (He/Him)

“Placemaking is all about softening the hard edges of the urban environment and creating bumping spaces; places where people can bump into one another and connect. These connections are a critical component to community building. I love how Sharon's art captures the magic and whimsy of placemaking."

  • Joyce (She/They)

"Your art and your relationship with your parents helps me feel closer to my parents even though they live so far away. I love sending them your art to bring a slice of Victoria to them.”

  • Charlotte (She/Her)

“When I first saw Sharon’s art it was like looking at a glimpse of my childhood. She captured local landmarks that I’d pass by everyday and would probably not pay much notice to until they were gone. The colour and joy she puts into each piece seemed to be a reflection of my own special memories. In her beautiful illustrations she has also opened my eyes to many other buildings and businesses I have yet to discover in my hometown.”

  • Kevin (He/Him)

“Sharon Lam, Art is truly amazing and manages to capture a moment in time and location, that people connect with. Her art is the physical representation of Nostalgia.”
