Maria’s has been my family’s favourite restaurant for as long as I can remember! Ever since our cousin introduced them to us, we’ve been making the trek out to Sidney for calamari as often as we can!

I remember when we were younger, we’d come out to the #sidneynightmarket and would always debate between eating at the food trucks or just going to Maria’s. Maria’s always won. When Aaron and I lived abroad, we’d always go straight here from the ferry or the airport after returning to the island. We are always excited to share a huge fluffy plate of calamari with delicious tzatziki and topped with onions! Aaron, Mom and Dad would order the lamb souvlaki, and I’d get the falafel one. Coming to Maria’s always felt like a mini-vacation because we’d always walk down to the water afterwards for a little stroll, hit up Satellite Fish Company for some rock fish or crab, and then we’d drive along the water on the way home. Aside from my own personal love of Maria’s, they’ve done such a fantastic job of making us feel safe in the past year as we continued to come for their delicious food! Have you ever eaten here?
