I’m so happy I finished drawing @dumplingdrop in time for Mothers Day so that Tarn, (the owner) could show Toom (her Mom)! When Toom was diagnosed with Alzheimers a few years ago, they began making dumplings together every Friday night. It wasn’t long until they began selling the excess, and Dumpling Drop was born! They operated on a delivery and pop-up model before opening up this beautiful shop. I was especially touched to see Tarn speaking out about how anti-asian sentiments and xenophobia has impacted Chinatown. She works so hard to make our community a better place, like fundraise for the Alzheimer's Society of BC and the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre. It’s so empowering to see a Female and Asian led restaurant flourish! What I love about drawing restaurants is that I get to draw people's dreams. It is an honour to illustrate Tarn & Toom’s story. Plus I love capturing all those little touches they’ve made to make the shop feel so inviting! Can you spot Eddie, their handsome delivery driver?
